The Department of Family and Community Medicine has a strong commitment to both the classroom and clinical curricular education of the students in the College of Osteopathic Medicine. The department demonstrates its leadership position by providing curricular coordination in key courses including the FCM Perceptorship program, Clinical Skills, Doctor Patient Relationships, Geriatrics and the Primary Care Ambulatory Clerkship. The Department provides a community based Family Medicine Experience during the students second year of medical education in order to provide a clinical context for the basic science and clinical information they are learning in the classroom. This FCM continuum then moves into the students third year as part of the 8-week FCM component of the Primary Care Ambulatory Clerkship. |
